Download Saleae Driver
I am going to hack a device with I2C interface.
This is USB Saleae Compatible 24MHz 8Channel Logic Analyzer Latest Support 1.1.15 Sampling rate up to: 24 MHz The logic for each channel sampling rate of 24M / s. General applications around General applications around.
I will attempt to read some data from a I2C EEPROM interface so I need to hook on the I2C bus and check on what memory location the data is being written.
I ordered online a small and cheap logic analyzer that claims to be compatible with Saleae. This is very cool since Saleae Logic devices are not that cheap.

This is the image of the device.
The Saleae Logic is a USB-based, 8-channel logic analyzer with up to 24MHz sampling rate. The unit itself is very small, and has a USB 2.0 port connecting it to a PC (and powering the unit) and a connector for the 8 + 1 probe set. It is built around a Cypress EZ-USB FX2LP microcontroller — an 8051-compatible chip with built-in USB 2.0 controller. Legacy Software. To download our older, Logic v1.x releases, you can refer to. I followed the KB Drivers for EZ-USB® FX1™, FX2LP™, and FX3™ - KBA94413 to download Drivers.zip. When I update driver through browse my unzip driver, Windows prompted 'Couldnot find the driver for your device' My device is a simple logic analysis 24MHz with CY7C68013A chip. Download the world's best and most popular logic analyzer software.
It has free usb cable and few dupont jumper wires.
I immediately downloaded and installed Saleae software but it cannot detect the device.
It supposed to be a Saleae clone but it seems not.
On windows OS PC, verify on the device manager (just search device manager to find it if you dont know) if anything is connected then you should found USBee AX Pro.
If the device is unknown, then you need to install the driver. You need to use Zadig for that. Download it on this link.
Just select the winusb then the device should not be unknown.
I did a quick search on the compatible software for this logic analyzer and got it from this youtube video.
For windows PC, I downloaded sigrok (sigrok-cli 0.7.1 (64bit)) and pulseview (PulseView 0.4.1 (64bit)) software on the link below. Pulseview though should be enough.
The only challenge I got is when using the custom zadig that is included on the installation is that the USBee AX Pro is not detected. I have to force the detection of it.
You need to click on “Option” on the menu and check “List All Device”.

Select the USBee AX-Pro on the dropdown list of all USB devices then click Reinstall Driver.
When I open the PulseView software then I can see now the device.
My new logic analyzer is now ready to use 🙂
*For MAC OS, here is the link. No need for zadig.

What's New
- Warning when a USB host controller driver is out of date and could cause device reliability problems.
- Analog interactions toolbar to easily navigate the analog data
- Mouse dragging of analog channels allows X and Y panning simultaneously (once a certain Y threshold is met)
- New analog keyboard shortcuts - zoom, pan and fit
- Scroll up and down the channels via space + scroll
- New preferences menu
Improvements
- Improved channels context (right click) menu
- Unsupported WebGL error handling
- Show a notification on device disconnection instead of creating a new tab
Bug fixes
- Missing analog calibration when loading a capture
- Fixed bug where extensions would not load and updates would not download if the internet connection used a proxy.
- Fixed bug where application would stop working properly after the system suspended and resumed.
- Fixed bug when loading extensions from a non-ascii path.
